Panasonic Lumix GH4 in the autofocus test

The mirrorless Panasonic Lumix GH4 captures the sharpness in the autofocus test, whether it is continuous or single-AF, fast or slow-moving motifs. With bright illumination (2500 lux), sharpness and measured MTF50 contrast were at the oblique edges – average of 94% (series, AF-C) and 91% (single shot, single AF with sharpness priority). In a darkened environment of 300 lux, the hit rate dropped quite moderately to 86% (series) and 85% (single image). This makes the GH4 the undisputed winner of this test.

(10 b / series) compared to single images (12 and 13 B / series), the fast moving chart (1 instead of 0.4 m / s) during the series recording and the resulting Shortened available time (3 instead of 7.5 s), on the other hand, the manual speed of the image reduced from 7 to 2 B / s manually (setting L, slow speed). Without sharp focus, the serial image mode shot more images at full speed, but the focus rate decreased.

Tip: The autofocus tracking of the GH4 did not show any weaknesses in the test, but seems to work very well in the serial mode. Bright ambient light helps.
