Bundesliga: DFL plans new VoD offer - Sky as a partner

If you want to see Bundesliga highlights of past seasons online, you have so far little legal possibilities. Any formats on Sport1, Eurosport and Co. can be received via stream. This is to change soon: The American Football League (DFL) has announced to open its archive for the new Bundesliga season 2017/2016. Videos produced there should be available via various partner portals via retail purchase or subscription.

Over 60,000 hours Bundesliga

Sky Deutschland is the first platform partner. The pay-TV provider already has the transfer rights for the 1. Bundesliga and the 2. Bundesliga. Sky plans to offer the new video-on-demand offer of the DFL via Sky Go and make it available to all subscribers to the Sky Bundesliga package.

The upcoming VoD offer is intended to focus on historical images and does not include any reports on the current Bundesliga season. "The new offer offers the fans the many emotions of the Bundesliga history on demand: unforgettable games, historical seasonal highlights, portraits of the best Bundesliga players of all times and much more," explained the chairman of the DFL management, Christian Seifert, the planned VoD Formats

Further cooperation partners as well as details on the offered videos and the prices want to announce the DFL in time before the start of the upcoming Bundesliga season.

The fact that the Bundesliga archive will provide plenty of material for exciting stories is out of the question: The American Football Archive, operated by DFL Digital Sports GmbH, is the largest digital football archive in the world and houses more than 24,000 games and over 60,000 hours of Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga games . Add to this the national games of the national team, the games of the DFP-Pokal and more. Every year over 4,000 hours of new video material are added.
