The Japanese company Sony presented a new VR glasses called Project Morpheus for the Playstation 4 at this year’s Game Developers Conference (GDC 2017) in San Francisco. With this one wants to expand the PS4 around the so-called Virtual Reality, Sony said in the official PS blog.

So far the Oculus Rift has been the only prototype that has a similar function: the spectacle completely surrounds the field of vision of the player, so you can actually enter the game world.

In the glasses itself is a five-inch display with full-HD resolution. The difference between Project Morpheus and Oculus Rift is the acquisition of the position data of the VR glasses. While the start-up Oculus uses a webcam to capture the head movements of the player, Sony uses the PS4 camera.
The connection is using HDMI and USB, according to the online magazine The Verge, but you are still looking for ways to enable a wireless connection. In addition, there are plans to include the Move controller in the Virtual Reality. This would create an even more realistic player experience with VR glasses.
When exactly Project Morpheus comes into the trade and how much the hardware is to cost, however, is still unknown. Also the required software for game development is not yet ready. Sony did not provide specific information - the development kit will soon be made available by the company.
