To check your local router, an installation of the Android app and a connection to the WLAN of your Fritzbox is enough. The access data for your Fritzbox are not required and with only one click you start the check. The app then reads the firmware and hardware version as well as the type name of the device.

After successful data matching, the tool can determine whether you are affected by the vulnerability. In this case, the BSI (Federal Office for Information Security) advises to act urgently and to install the latest AVM Fritzbox FritzOS update.

Aside from the hack attack, it is recommended to periodically update the Fritzbox regularly with the free firmware updates, since AVM does not only close vulnerabilities with every update, but also extends the functionality

The app can recognize not only Fritzboxen Telekom Speedport models and also a security check. With four Speedport models and Powerline routers, the same weak points have been discovered, so it is recommended to check these devices as well. The free app "Is my box safe?" Is available on the Google Play Store and requires a smartphone with Android 2.2 or higher.
