7 Multifunction devices with WLAN

It used to be better! Really everything? With regard to multifunctional devices, this is not quite true. The multinationals have been the most successful bureaus ever since a few years. In the past, you had a hard time, since they were only given birthdays of at least one generation, compared to their single-function counterparts.

Older printers delivered significantly poorer print quality and slower printing speeds, and this was a powerful argument for many customers to say no again. Back then, anyway. It's different today. Multis are equipped with the best printers in their class. Therefore, hardly a customer buys an A4 printer and the next day an A4 scanner.


The multifunctional devices have actually retired these two device categories. If you are going to an electric market today, you have to look for a pensioner. If at all, there are proven printing specialists, who are characterized by 8-, 9- or 10-color printing systems, processing formats up to DIN A3 or, in the field of SW photoprint, thanks to various gray inks to printerelite.

Today even multifunctional machines to the road price of less than 100 Euro achieve high-gloss photoprint results, which are absolutely satisfying. Even photos that come from a Brother or a Lexmark are now absolutely top-notch.

And this is due not least to the fact that the manufacturers have sworn to multis and equipped them with the best printing units that they have. Brother gives full three-year warranty on his print heads and Lexmark even five years after registration of the device.


And that is something to be desired with a high-performance mechanical system, which catapults itself at a furious speed and fires explosively like ink from thousands of microscopic nozzles. But some things have also gotten much worse than before.


Since the ISO standards have been used as a rangefinder by nearly all manufacturers - Lexmark is still an abomination - these results are diligently striving to convince customers with seemingly impressive figures. However, one of these "side-ways" is certainly one thing: the price per page and the comparability with earlier models.

We therefore decided to stay with the old data in the near future. We continue to quote the price per SW page at five percent coverage, the price for a 10x15 photo and an A4 photo.


By the way, one can say that the manufacturers are really fierce. The secondary costs of relatively low-cost multinationals are by no means to be underestimated. For a SW side, HP, Lexmark and the Canon Pixma MX410 are about 8 cents mature, Brother even hits nearly 13 cents.


Only with the Kodak Office 2170 and the MG5250 you get with 4 and 5 cents respectively. But you pay with these in the photoprint properly on it. Read more about this in the individual discussions of the devices.
