Part 4: Comparison test HDTV recorder with hard disk

Homecast HS 8100 CIPVR

From Homecast comes the most expensive box of this comparison test. For 700 euros you get however also the 500GB largest hard drive and for HD recordings is a large hard drive enormously important. If you want to use the device not only at the time offset television, but movies for longer on the data carrier, one quickly makes the experience that HD films are three to six times as much in need of data capacity as conventional SD broadcasts. The 500-gigabyte version of the homecast box is the smaller brothers who only cost 50-70 euros less, which is absolutely preferable.

The HS 8100 CIPVR offers most of the communication interfaces in our field. USB is the front and rear, but the USB connection to the PC (type B), which allows movies to be swapped at maximum speed, is unique. Also a connected USB hard drive accepts films willingly and plays JPG photos. The LAN jack is still waiting for its determination. Homecast uses the PiP dual-chip concept excellently. Two shots are possible while watching TV programs or archived programs. The archive menu displays minibilder and detailed information and is just as liquid and easy to use as the entire menu concept. The special thing about the homecast should actually be self-evident, it is unfortunately not with HD PVR boxes. The device worked flawlessly and fluently in the first delivered version and offered all promised features.
