Hasselblad H4D-40 and Leica S2

Both cameras meet the high expectations with their excellent picture quality, the highest resolution with low noise. In comparison, the Leica gets slightly better details, while the Hasselblad offers a little more resolution and has the head in the dynamic.

The picture quality is the same. Hasselblad relies on a classic operating concept with numerous keys for fast direct access, Leica to "intelligent" softkeys. In comparison, the Hasselblad can be used more quickly, but the Leica can learn more intuitively. Hasselblad works exclusively with central locks, Leica offers central and slotted locks. Conversely, only the Hasselblad viewfinder is interchangeable, so there is also stalemate in handling and equipment.

Guide: How modern lenses work

The H4D generation is a successful development of the H3D series, with the H4D-40 with an average of 13,000 euros and 40 megapixel resolution an interesting and inexpensive entry-level model in the professional medium format. Leica can not (yet) offer the system diversity of Hasselblad, but the entry has been technically perfect, with an equivalent picture quality, clever operating concept as well as dust and splash water protection. However, the extra charge including lens is 7500 euros. There is no winner, but the Hasselblad offers better value for money.
