The winners: OPPO BDP-103D and Cambridge Azur 725BD
The two test devices Oppo BDP-103D and Cambridge Azur 725BD are based on the same drive and the same board. So it is not surprising that both are similar in the test. Nevertheless, the two players have individual characteristics that make them interesting for different target groups.
The common strengths include the numerous connections of both players, such as two USB sockets, HDMI inputs with MHL and HDMI outputs with audio return channel. Thanks to bass management and calibration possibilities, both players can even be used as AV preamplifiers. The fact that they can play all common discs from CD via DVD and SACD to 3D Blu-ray- is self-evident. You can also take files from USB disks or from the network without any grumbling.
Lesetipp: The best Blu-ray players up to 200 Euro
Thanks to the built-in Darbee image enhancer, the Oppo has a nose in front of the picture. Opposite the Cambridge, he offers a touch more peace and depth. On the other hand, the Cambridge can score points thanks to a separate stereo circuit board. While the Oppo is more likely to rely on digital connections and distribute the sound to an external AV receiver, the Cambridge also makes a good figure as a D / A converter and fits well into a good stereo system.
The Panasonic DMP-BDT700 is already somewhat older, but must not hide especially with picture and sound quality. On the contrary: with the picture quality, the Panasonic player even a little better than the two test winner. But otherwise he is brave with it, if one notices that all other Blu-Ray players of this Top 5 at least double the cost.
