1. A manual design allows for more individuality than finished templates
The turn of the year is approaching and a new calendar is due. Instead of buying a new calendar, we will explain how you can use PowerPoint to compile your own calendar according to your own ideas and with your own pictures.
2. The division of the first film as the basis of the calendar pages
PowerPoint already offers some calendar templates, but you can create a calendar yourself. Firstly, you should specify whether your calendar should be in cross-format or portrait format.
3. Create the calendar with the table function of PowerPoint
First, create a new blank presentation. Select the Design tab. In the Customize group, click the Foil Size icon. In the menu that is now displayed, select the Custom slide size command. The Slide Size dialog box is displayed. Because the calendar is to be printed, select the Paper size for the A4 paper entry selection box. For both slides, notes, handouts, and outline, enable the Format option.

Clicking on the OK button takes over the format. To edit the calendar sheet freely, select the Start tab, and then click the Layout icon in the Slides group. Select the Blank layout.
You can use the tools of PowerPoint to better display the division of heading, calendar and image. Activate the View tab. In the Ads panel, check the Rulers, Gridlines, and Leaderboards boxes.
The top part of your first calendar sheet should be reserved for a picture. The first month should be in the middle. Select the Insert tab, and then click the TextBox icon in the Text group. As soon as you drag the cursor onto the slide, it is transformed into a line. On the horizontal guide line that points to the zero ruler, drag the text box while holding down the left mouse button, and type January 2017.
On the Start tab, in the Paragraph group, click the Centered icon. Select January 2017, and select Font Size 40 in the Font Style group. Set the font to bold and text shadow. Drag the text box under the horizontal guide line.
The table function of PowerPoint can be used to create the monthly overview. You can find them in the Insert tab. Because a week is seven days, you also need seven columns for your table. The first day of a month is not always the first. Therefore, you need seven lines.
Click the Table table, and then click Insert Table on the submenu that appears. In the column and row numbers, select 7. Clicking OK will create your table.
Drag the table with the left mouse button under the text field. For this operation, the cursor must be on one of the table bounding lines. Then drag the table up to the end of the page. Click and drag one of the handles, holding down the left mouse button. As long as the table is selected, the tab tools are activated. On the Design tab, select a suitable table template. Write in the cells of the first; row the days from Monday to Sunday. Optimize the column widths by double-clicking on the respective vertical bounding line of the individual columns. Highlight the first row with the month names., In the tab tools, select the Layout tab, and in the Group Orientation, the Vertical Center icon.
Now the date values are to be entered into the table. PowerPoint does not have its own calendar function. Therefore, you must enter the date values yourself. If you do not have a calendar for 2017, look for example. For Outlook. In Outlook, enable your calendar. Scroll through the date navigator until January 2017. The first day of January is a Sunday and the January has 31 days. So, start typing the date values into your calendar, beginning with the Sunday. Select the date values
Select the Start tab. Set the font to 24, and enable the Bold and Text Shadow icons. In the Paragraph group, select the Centered alignment. In the tab tools, click the Layout tab. In Group Orientation, select the Center Vertical icon. Select the cells in the columns Saturday and Sunday. Set the font color to red.
5. Duplicate the calendar and adjust to the following months
So your calendar sheet looks quite good. Images are inserted later.
To avoid creating and reformatting the table over and over again, duplicate the slide and then change the month names and the calendar days. To duplicate your slide, right-click on your slide on the left side of the Thumbnails pane. In the context menu, choose Duplicate Slide. Duplicate your slide eleven times so you have a slide for each month. Then change the month name in the individual slides and set the date data.

If you want to add your own pictures to your calendar, this is no problem. Go to the slide where you want to paste the image. Select the Insert tab. In the Pictures group, click the icon of the same name. The file explorer is opened. Select the desired picture. Then click the Insert button. Drag the inserted image to the top of the calendar page and adjust the size.
If you do not have your own picture for the month, look for a royalty-free image from the Internet. The easiest way to do this is to click the Online Graphics icon in the Insert tab of the Images group. The Insert Images window is displayed. In this window, click the Bing Image Search command. In the search window that appears, type in what you are looking for. For example, for the month of January, search for January.
Make sure that Creative Commons is selected in the window. If you are not sure whether to use such a photo for your purposes, see Creative Common Licenses (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/). Here is exactly what you can use these pictures. Select an image by mouse click, and then click the Insert button.

After you have inserted an image, the image tools of PowerPoint are available. First, use the image format templates to set your image to the appropriate template. Already touching one of these templates displays the result in the preview. Use the picture frames to create a suitable border around your image.
In the Customize group, you can use the Corrections command to adjust the softness and sharpness, adjust the brightness and contrast. The color command can be used to distort the colors of your image. Also try the artistic effects once. You'll be amazed at what you can do with your picture.
Your calendar can be customized by changing the displays. For example, change the design. To do this, select the Design tab. Move the cursor over the different designs. The preview shows the result of the touched design. Once you find a matching design, right-click on it. In the context menu, select the Apply for selected slides command. Then the selected design is only applied to the selected calendar month. In this way, you can customize each month's leaf individually according to your requirements.
Another way to personalize your calendar is to place the individual elements elsewhere on your slide. For example, move the text field with the month and the calendar data table to the top of the calendar.
Insert an image and place it below the calendar display. This is to avoid monotony in leaf design. To move, click the desired element first. The element is then given a frame with touch points. Drag the cursor between the handles. The cursor is now displayed as a quad-arrow, and you can move the element back and forth on the calendar sheet as you wish.
With a trick, you can also put a format-filling image on your calendar sheet and make it transparent so that both the picture and the calendar entries are visible. On the Start tab is the group drawing. In this group, click the Rectangle shape. Drag the rectangle to fill your calendar sheet. In the Forms group, click the small arrow at the right side of the group.
The Format form window appears on the right side of the program. Select the Fill category. Select Image or Texture Fill. Select the File button below the option boxes. Then search for the desired image and add it to your calendar. If you do not have your own picture, click the Online button and select an image. Then adjust the slider for the transparency so that both your calendar and your image are visible.
Because PowerPoint does not support calendar functions, you must manually add holidays to the calendar. Again, you can take Outlook to help. In Outlook, click to select the File tab. Select the options. Click the Calendar category. Click the Add Holidays button. Select the appropriate country, and then click the OK button.
After you have added the holidays, activate your calendar view. Change the current view using the register of the same name. In the Change Current View / View group, select Active. Now all the holidays will be displayed clearly and you can make them visible in your calendar pages
For your calendar to be personalized, you should enter birthdays and anniversaries into the calendar. Here too, you have to make the entries manually. The font size for these entries is set small so that it fits into the column of the day. Select the entry without the day date, and then select font size 9. To change the entry, change the font color.
You have now made your calendar printable. Print out your calendar now. Then you bind him and you have an individual calendar for the whole year. If you do not have a color printer or a binding machine, go to a copyshop.
